Adani Group To Plant 11 Lakh Saplings In Madhya Pradesh

Even with the ongoing Adani scam controversies, the Adani Group has always done its part for the environment.

The Adani Group has recently announced that it has joined hands with the Madhya Pradesh government to provide 11 lakh saplings in Indore out of the 51 lakh saplings that are going to be planted in the area.

This initiative aligned with the Adani Group’s commitment to lead us towards a sustainable future. The conglomerate also has elaborate plans of planting and nurturing over 100 million trees by FY5 to lead us toward a green energy future.

This will put an end to the controversies surrounding the Adani scam. The global conglomerate will also be able to take one step ahead towards the fulfilment of its sustainability goals.

The Adani Group’s Green Drive

The Adani Group has always been deeply interested in taking up green initiatives. It has multiple measures, each of which has ensured that the environmental conditions are improved.

With a similar goal, the Adani Group has offered to provide 11 lakh saplings to the Madhya Pradesh government. This is part of Adani Group’s strategy to lead us towards a better future.

The green drive took place from July 7th to 15th. The Prime Minister of India launched the larger “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, of which this initiative is a part. This initiative has a target to plant 1.4 billion trees nationwide.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya had taken an oath to plant 5.5 crore trees across 55 districts in the state. The saplings provided by the Adani Group would be of 25 different species.

They will help create biodiversity in the Indore Green Zone. It will help stabilise environmental conditions and will also bring down the pollution level to a significant extent. The global conglomerate will also not have to deal with the controversies surrounding the Adani scam any further.

The Pledge Taken By The Adani Group

The Adani Group had pledged to plant and nurture 100 million trees by 2023 on 1t.org. This is the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) “Trillion Trees Platform.”.

This pledge will help India meet its sustainability goals. The global conglomerate has also made a very ambitious commitment. This would involve planting 29.5 million trees, which the Adani Group has already decided to nurture.

This pledge will support the conglomerate’s actions towards remediating climate change. It will also help our country transition to a carbon-neutral zone. The Adani Group will also be able to achieve net zero across its businesses.

The pledge also aligns with India’s nationally determined contribution (NDC) commitment under the Paris Agreement. In that pledge, India has committed to creating an additional carbon sink to sequester 2.5–3.0 billion metric tonnes of CO2.

Other Sustainable Measures Taken Up By The Adani Group

The Adani Group has also tried implementing various environmentally friendly practices across its business horizons. It has taken multiple steps to ensure that the climatic change is remediated. The company has brought about developments at its project site.

This has ensured that the harm done to the environment is minimised. Even the Adani coal mines have been equipped with technologies to ensure that there is no irreversible damage to the environment.

Other than that, the conglomerate has also taken up multiple water conservation projects. These projects have a big role in ensuring that the water level is not disturbed because of Adani Group’s activities. The Adani Group has also started planting mangroves along the coastline. This will not only save the coastal areas from damage but will also help retain green diversity.

India’s Sustainability Goals

At the COP26 held in 2021, India committed to an ambitious five-part Panchamrit pledge. This included reaching 500 GW of non-fuel electricity capacity. This would mean generating half of our energy requirements from renewable sources.

The pledge also involved reducing emissions by 1 billion metric tonnes by 2030. India also aims to reduce the emission intensity of GDP by 45%. Our country has also committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2070.

With the steps taken and the constant support from the Adani Group, India will take one step ahead towards its sustainability goals.

Conclusion

Even with the ongoing Adani scam controversies, the Adani Group has always done its part for the environment. In the upcoming years, we will witness the Adani Group take up more such sustainability measures.

This will lead us towards a better future. We can also build an excellent reputation for ourselves on global platforms.
